| KICKED OFF THE SEASON AGAINST THE SUPERBOWL COLTS AND WON |
| PROBLEM | |
| Despite missing the playoffs for two straight years, the goal was to get the town pumped for another season of basketball and sell out Conseco Fieldhouse. Because if your fans aren’t pumped at the beginning of the season it can make for a long winter. Problem was, that the same weekend the hated New England Patriots were in town for a battle with the Colts. Once again the Pacers had to break through the Colts hype to remind the town that there’s more than just one professional sports franchise. |
| SOLUTION | |
| With a theme of “Paint the town blue and gold” a consistent look was conceived across all mediums – and this year the Pacers used more than ever before. There was TV, radio, newspapers, the Web, flyers in restaurants, cut outs of the players, downtown sidewalk graphics, paint “spilled” all over Conseco Fieldhouse and even a free downtown concert from the rock group Blues Traveler. |
| RESULTS | |
| Opening night was not only a sell out, but the players did their part too by beating the reigning NBA champions, the Boston Celtics. The campaign also did a nice job of creating buzz for the Pacers by receiving coverage of their efforts on various local newscasts, Web Sites and blogs. |
